Make It Monday #97: 2012 A la Carte

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays!  It always amazes me how quickly they speed by!  I am here today to enter the make it monday challenge this week.  I missed PTI's blog hop but the entries were so pretty!  Being a nurse means I work through Christmas so there was no time for card making.  Today I had a chance to make a card for this week's make it monday and I love the theme of choosing from one of 49 different challenges.  I actually wound up making a card that used two different techniques.
MIM #54  Glitter Buttons
and
MIM # 58 Graduated Backgrounds
Once I stamped the cute little bear from Baby Button Bits onto my graduated background, I just knew he needed a glittered button on his tummy!  So here is the end result:
Thanks for stopping by and have a Happy and Safe New Year everyone!
Have a great day!

Make It Monday #96: Patchwork Die-Cuts

It's not unusual for me to fall in love with Melissa's work, I enjoy her style so much!  I have to admit that when I saw this week's MIM challenge I wanted to copy it exactly.  Money is tight so I haven't had a chance to buy any of the new releases at PTI this month so I tried to copy Melissa's card as best I could.  Here is the end result and I love how it came out!
I really love the technique of patchworking die cuts  I will definitely be using this technique again!
Have a great day everyone!

Helping The Children of Newtown & MIM 96

If you are any warm blooded human with a heart than I know you have been saddened by the horrific tradgedy in Newtown last week.  I know I have wept over an over for all of the victims and families who's lives were forever changed on that horrible day.  It's so hard to make sense of senseless violence in this world.  Today I was drawn to a blog that I have been to before and I found something that I would like to share with whoever reads this post.  Amber of Damask Love is organizing a wonderful project to help the children of Newtown through art therapy.  She is a pediatric psychologist and she is urging us to help her by sending art supplies to  Newtown Youth & Family Services Center.  The fundraiser is called Drawn Together and if you click on the link, it will take you to Amber's blog to give you all the information on how you can help.
Drawn-Together-Button
It really is a wonderful fundraiser and I have made a card this week for the PTI make it monday challenge to include in my package of art supplies.  I encourage you all to do the same.  They are trying to put together creative kits for the children of Newton because art may offer a healthy coping mechanism for children experiencing difficult emotions.  You can make a monetary donation or send art supplies.  Anything would help!
Here is my card for the make it monday challenge and for my donation to Drawn Together!
Please share this information with all of your crafty friends!
Together we can reach a lot of people!

Making washi tape

I wanted to share a card I made today with washi tape.  I saw a tutorial on how to make your own and I've been wanting to try it.  To be honest I might try buying it from now on.  It was fun but a little bit of a pain in the neck.  I got tissue paper in a few gifts recently and I used it to make the tape.  The tissue paper from the store Brighton reminded me of a zebra print and I also had some red tissue paper from Victoria's Secret.  Well, see for yourself, here is the card with the tape.
I like the way the card turned out and the tape looks cool but I think it's just way easier to buy it already made.  It's not that expensive and there are oodles of patterns available!
Well, that's it for now.
Have a great day!

Make It Monday #95: Layered Glitter Shapes - Take Two

Hi everybody.  I'm back again with another card for the make it monday challenge.  I had so much fun making the first card I wanted to give this technique another try.  I liked the idea of the ornaments with the decorative strips across them so I thought I would re-create that look with hearts for Valentine's Day.
Here is my take on the challenge.
See you soon!

Make It Monday #95: Layered Glitter Shapes

Here I am again playing along with another Make it Monday Papertrey project.  Oh how I love my PTI stamps and dies!  This week for the layered glitter shapes I chose to glitter up some pretty little butterflies from the Heart to Heart #10 die collection.  I layered some little hearts on them before I glittered them and then added some dainty pink rhinestones for some extra bling.  The sentiment stamped on the tag sale 6 die is from the half and half stamp set.  I love the detailed stitching too!  I wish my sewing machine wasn't so heavy because I would probably stitch on every card.  I've got to find a permanent home for it!
Here's my card for the week:

Have a great week everyone!

Make It Monday #94: Detail Glitter Technique

Good morning.  I always look forward to Monday mornings to see what make it monday challenge Nichole has on her blog.  Thanks to Erin, I will be covered in glitter until next year at Hanukkah!  This challenge was so much fun and I immediately thought that the perfect place for glittery highlights would be the lights on the Menorah! The Menorah Medley stamp set with matching dies was the perfect tools to make this lovely card!  I love Hanukkah for so many reasons but to see the Menorah fully lit is such a beautiful sight, I loved re-creating it on this card.  I hope you enjoy!  I managed to glitter the candles and the borders on the top and bottom of the card.
Have a great day everyone and if you celebrate Hanukkah like I do than you know we are celebrating in less than a week!
Happy glittering everyone!
