You Mocha Me Crazy

Hello crafty friends, I have a card to share with you today!
I'm interrupting this winter holiday cardmaking time of year to bring
you a card with pink and hearts for a day!
I'm up in the KaDoodle Bug Facebook group today and for my design
team project I used an adorable file called
Valentine Frappuccino Cutie!
I saw an awesome video on the Unity Facebook page and fell in love
with the technique they showed.  They made their own background for a donut
card and I knew I had to try it out!
Here is the card I made with the cute Frappuccino image
and the handmade background.

I started with a piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock and die cut a panel
I then stamped a scribbled heart image in Versamark Ink from a Maymay Made It
stamp set called "Love Is".

I heat embossed the hearts with WOW gold embossing powder.
The next step was to mask off the outer edge of the card with purple tape and
ink the panel with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink.

After I was done sponging I removed the tape to reveal a crisp white border.
The gold hearts had white areas in between the embossing so
I colored them in with my Copic marker RV21 for a little
added color. Next came the fun part, splattering the background
with 2 different color oxide inks.

I smooshed the colors on to my Tim Holtz media mat
and sprayed them with water.  I put my paintbrush into the colors
and tapped them onto my background.  I just love the effect I get from
splattering paint randomly on my cards!

The only thing left to do was to pop my cutie Frappuccino up on
some foam tape and add my sentiment!

I am in love with this background and I think I will be making a lot more
of them!  There are so many colors, stamps and themes it could be used for.

I'm so glad you stopped by today, I hope you like my card and technique!
Have a great day, I already am!

Crafty Cards Two Ways and a Giveaway!

It's my turn today over on the Kat Scrappiness blog and I have a real treat for all of you crafty guys and gals out there!  Kat has a new stamp set available in her store this month that is dedicated to the crafter in you!

It's called Crafters Gonna Craft and you're going to love it!  It has all kinds of crafty themed stamps but I think my favorite one is the marker, or maybe the scissors, or maybe the sequins....  Oh well obviously I can't decide!
The other thing I have a hard time deciding on is what style of card making I like the best. My favorite style is definitely soft colors and a shabby chic theme but I also love to mix it up with bold colors and graphic elements.  I guess I just love to try new things.  Today I thought I'd make two different style cards with the same stamp set.  The first card is bold, bright and graphic.

For this card I started out with some Bristol smooth paper and inked the background with Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide inks.
The next step was to take all of the stamps from the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set and arrange them randomly over the inked background and stamp them repeatedly in different positions.  I made sure to stamp some of them off the page to give a more random look.
After I stamped all of the images I trimmed the panel down with the largest die from the
Distressed Edge Rectangle die set. I spritzed the panel with water droplets to give it a more distressed appearance. The sentiment was stamped with Versamark Ink onto black card stock. The card stock was cut with the smallest die from that same die set and heat embossed with white powder to make it really stand out.  I popped the sentiment up on foam tape to give it some dimension.  To finish off the card and give it a little bit of shine, I added some Sparkling Clear Solid Confetti in the 4mm and 6mm sizes.

For my second card using the same stamp set I turned to my personal favorite style, soft and shabby.

I wanted the graphics on this card to have a very soft look so I pulled out some of my favorite shabby chic patterned paper and stamped the 4 main elements on it and hand cut them out.  I cut a white panel using the largest die from the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle dies and stamped the heart randomly in two different colors and they look as if they are floating around. I used the pretty patterned paper to cover the bottom of that panel.  For the focal point of the card I die cut a tag from the Stitched Scalloped Nesting Tags and embossed it with a pretty script embossing folder. I adhered the glue bottle, marker, scissors and pencil to the tag and covered the bottom with a pretty piece of white lace from my stash. I topped off the tag with a pretty twine bow at the top in mint green to match the color scheme. I stamped the sentiment "Happiness is handmade" under the tag in black to really make it stand out.
To finish off the card I added some Fabrika Enamel Drops in the color Gentle Shabby all around the card. What an appropriately named color for this card!

It always amazes me how different a card can look using the exact same stamp set! The sky is the limit when you are creating and it is one of my most favorite things about this hobby.  If you can dream it, you can create it!
