CAS(E) this Sketch #256

Good morning crafty friends.  Today I am happily playing along at CAS(E) this Sketch.  Here is the challenging but fun sketch for this week.
I love the idea of the repeated elements and I decided to duplicate my fun coffee cups from my Top Dog Dies set.  Unfortunately Top Dog went out of business, they had the cutest dies!
To add interest to the background, I used a Tim Holtz coffee cup embossing folder on the background of the card and popped the 3 coffee cups up on foam tape. The cute sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp set called Coffee and Tea.  Here is my entry for this week.
I'm loving how it came out with the pretty watercolor coffee cozies.
Enjoy your Tuesday everyone!

PTI Make it Monday

I had a revelation today about why Papertrey Ink made their challenges on Monday.  Clearly it's to take the drudgery out of mundane Mondays!  Since Monday is the most dreaded day of the week, why not make it special and add a fun challenge?  And so it was born Make It Monday!!

I don't know where to start with today's card because it brought me such JOY to make!  I watched Stephanie's video and I was inspired to go and play with all sorts of different types of paper and ink.
The new release stamps have been on my desk and I have been using the brushed birds stamps quite a bit, I'm smitten!  Today I decided to dive in to the Confetti Statements and Mix and Mat
Confetti die as well.  I "borrowed/stole" some pretty planner insert papers and ephemera from my daughter and stamped the small elements from confetti statements in the corners.  I cut the confetti die out of vellum and inked the edges with a few PTI inks and layered up the card......SO MUCH FUN!  For a finishing touch I stamped on top of the ephemera and added two sentiment strips with the tiny attacher.
Here is a picture of the card and all of the wonderful PTI goodies I used.
I sincerely hope you all are enjoying your Monday!
I certainly am!

Altenew January Inspiration Challenge

I'm back again today with another gorgeous floral Altenew creation for the January Inspiration Challenge.
I had forgotten how much I love the Painted Flowers stamp set.  I really need to keep that set on my desk and use it more.  I made a shaker card today using on of the pretty roses as a background under the shaker bits.  This card is really over the top with glitter paper and lots of sparkly sequins but I love how it turned out!
For some reason I had a very hard time photographing this card, I just couldn't get it bright enough.  Maybe it was the glitter paper but it was not cooperating with the camera at all!
I used the painted Happy Birthday die from Simon Says Stamp and some gorgeous sequins from Kat Scrapiness.  Ok since I work night shift I really should go take a nap now.  It's hard to pull myself away from my craft room!
Have a great day everyone!

PTI Make It Monday and SSS Monday Challenge

Time for another Make it Monday with Papertrey Ink.  Today's technique is shadowed sentiments.  It looks nice if you get it right but if you mess up than your sentiment just looks blurry.... ask me how I know๐Ÿ˜.  After 2 attempts though I was happy with my final result and here is the card.
My card was inspired by a beautiful card made by Melissa Phillips back in 2013.  I have always loved her style and I still find so much inspiration in her work!  Thank you Melissa๐Ÿ’—
I used one of my favorite PTI stamp sets, Rosie Posie, it is timeless.  The sentiment is from Boutique Borders : Birthday and I used the Tag Sale #2 die to be the main focus.  One beautiful flourish behind the tag is from another PTI oldie but goodie simply called Embellishments.  I finished off the card with a sweet little twine bow and I am loving the finished card!
I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Their challenge this week was to use a tag in your project.
Have a great day everyone!

CAS(E) this Sketch #255

Time for another CAS(E) this sketch card challenge #255.  For some reason I've been wanting to make a coffee themed card for a while so I thought this would be the perfect card to add in a cute little coffee cup.  When I want cute I reach for my Lawn Fawn stamps and dies.  Today I pulled out my Love You a Latte stamps and dies.  Cute coffee images and with sweet sentiments in a fun scripty font.  I saw a fun technique on YouTube yesterday to make a neat background from distress inks and acetate.  I smooshed (technical term)๐Ÿคฃ some walnut stain distress ink on to a piece of acetate and then sprayed it with water.  When the ink was running I smooshed the acetate onto my cardstock.  It gives a water color like background without the paintbrush.  I stamped some coffee beans and coffee mug stains on it for more interest.  I watercolored the cute little coffee cup with a water color pencil then stamped a heart on it and popped it up on a brown banner.
The sentiment was stamped, trimmed and the edges were inked.
I love how this card came together so quickly, having a sketch really helps!

Have a great day and happy stamping everyone!

Altenew January 2018 Inspiration Challenge

Today I'm joining Altenew for their January Inspiration Challenge.  The inspiration photo has some brightly colored flowers and I was in the mood to try some watercoloring today.  I used the Tulip stamp set and after I stamped the tulip images I watercolored them with watercolor pencils.  Next I stamped the stems on a piece of white cardstock and then embossed the panel with a woodgrain embossing folder.  The next step was to cut out the tulips and pop them up on the embossed panel.  I added some stickles over top of the flowers to give them some sparkle.  The sentiment from the same stamp set was then heat embossed in white on a kraft color banner I cut from the MFT fishtail flag die set.  Lately I've been loving adding twine bows to my cards so I pulled out my lovely PTI twine and made a bow.  Here is my card for today.  I'm quite happy with how it turned out. ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™

Thanks for visiting my blog today, I hope you are enjoying your day, I certainly am!

SSS Wednesday Challenge

Hello everyone from chilly South Florida.  Although we are not having snow and freezing temperatures here it is VERY cold for us Floridians.  This morning when I left work it was in the high 30's to low 40's.  By the time I got home I couldn't feel my fingers.  When I finally got the feeling back I got out my cute Heffy Doodle elephants and started playing.  The SSS Wednesday challenge is to add a sentiment.  The "Elephant of Surprise" stamp set has such cute sentiments with elephant puns.  I stamped my sentient in versamark ink and heat embossed it with some Hero Arts white embossing powder.  I stamped a mirror image of the elephant so they could be facing each other.  I made the background with a cute heart stamp and I heat embossed it with gold embossing powder and then water colored it with Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry distress inks.
I'm very happy with the card and I think it really came together in the end.
Thanks for stopping by today, stay warm and have a great day!

Papertrey Ink Create Along With Us January 2018

I love the days where I can spend time crafting.  Lately I've had a lot of them and I am very grateful.  Today I am playing along with Papertrey Ink and their Create Along With Us for January 2018.  I've been following PTI for years and I am always in awe of the cards and projects that their design team comes up with.  These are some crazy talented women and they never cease to amaze me.  I have always loved Melissa's shabby style, Betsy's use of bright colors and Dawn's clean and simple cards.  Today I got some inspiration from Melissa's card from release day 2.  She layered a heart over a fancy frame and I love that look!

Since Valentine's day is just around the corner I decided to watercolor a Wonky Heart die from Simon Says Stamp. Kristina Werner recently shared a video where she used Arteza markers to watercolor with a piece of acetate so I tried it and loved it.  I used the Uppercase Block Alphabet dies from Papertrey to cut out the word LOVE in gold foil paper.  I used the inlaid die cutting technique to nest the letters back into the heart. A scalloped vellum rectangle with some gold print was the perfect backdrop for the pretty heart.  I finished off the project with some gold thread and a few dainty sequins from The Ton.

I also bought a new toy recently that I wanted to share.  It's called a Crystal Katana and it works really well at picking up sequins and gluing them down.  It's the best placement tool I've ever used!  You can see a demo on YouTube of it.  They sell it on Amazon and at Kat Scrappiness, check it out!

I am in love with this card and I can't wait to get my new PTI goodies in the mail that I ordered last night.
Have a wonderful week everyone and get some crafty time in!

In love with Papertrey Ink

Good morning.  Last night the January release went live over at Papertrey Ink and I was able to get the adorable Brushed Birds stamp set I've been swooning over.  I also bought a few other birthday themed goodies while I was shopping.  I cannot wait for that delivery!!!  After I had my PTI shopping spree I decided to break out my Farmer's Market Florals again and make another card.  I swear that stamp set just infuses creativity into my hands!  I also used the Chevron cover plate, an old stamp set called Handwritten notes for the cute sentiment and some beautiful PTI patterned paper.  The delicate sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh, everything looks better with sequins, right???  My next shopping spree will be over there for some of the new release stamps.  Paulina has the cutest hummingbird stamps that I want!  I really should work some overtime to fund my habit!
Anyway here's my card for today.
Have a lovely day, I already am!

Winnie and Walter January color combo challenge

My card is different shades of pink with a pop of gold in the cat's collar.

I made another card using the inside out technique that Jennifer McGuire showcased recently.  I am seriously in love with this style and I thought I'd make a Valentine's Day card with a cute Jane's Doodles stamp set I just got called "Cats".  I had tons of fun copic coloring those precious kitties!  The sentiment on the front of the card is from Winnie and Walter's "The Big, the Bold, and the Happy" set.  I pieced two stamps together to get the word "hey".  I am in love with the font from that set!  I also added a few delicate sequins from Kat Scrappiness for some bling.
Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday, I definitely am!

CAS(E) this sketch challenge #254

Happy Saturday everyone!  Today I am playing along with the CAS(E) this sketch challenge #254
Here is the sketch for this week.

I needed a focal point for my card and that's where Jennifer comes in.  When I can't sleep at night (which is every night) I sit up in bed watching YouTube videos on card making... isn't that what we all do?  Anyway, one of my favorite card makers is Jennifer McGuire and one of the things that I love about her videos is that they are easy to follow.  She makes you feel like you can do any technique she does.  Sometimes it actually works out, like today for example.  I fell in love with her inside out cards and I had to give it a try this morning.  I am absolutely in love with this card and I can't wait to make some more!  I pulled out an old loved stamp set from Avery Elle called "Furry Friends" and I chose the cute dog that looks like my dog Sophie and did some basic copic coloring.  The cute little dog is on the second layer of the card but he peeks through the front of the card, SO CLEVER!  This was such a fun card to make, not too difficult but with stunning results!  The two pictures show the front and inside of the card.  The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from an older Reverse Confetti stamp set called "Lots To Say".  Here is my card for the challenge, enjoy your weekend and get some crafting time in!
Have a great day!

SSS Wednesday Challenge

I made a really fun card tonight with a fun rainbow background and some embossed rain drops.  It looks like patterned paper so I'm entering it into this weeks SSS Wednesday challenge.  The challenge is to used store bought patterned paper in your project or make your own.  I used distress inks to blend a rainbow background and then I used the SSS raindrops stencil and some white embossing powder to give it a rainy day look.  The sun, clouds and sentiment are from My Creative Time.  I recently renovated my craft room and it's amazing what organizing your craft room does for your creativity!  Enjoy your weekend everyone, I think we are headed to the fair tomorrow.  I'm sure there is some fried dough with my name on it.๐Ÿ˜‚

Papertrey Ink Make it Monday #309

Today I'm playing along with Papertrey Ink and their Make it Monday challenge #309, heat embossed stencil backgrounds.  I couldn't sleep this morning because I started this card last night and I really wanted to put it together and add the sentiment.  Melissa has such a way with vintage floral cards and I've always loved her style.  The new Farmers Market Florals stamps are so beautiful and they make it easy to get that beautiful floral arrangement.  I used my Heart Cover Plate to create a stencil and then I covered the hearts in glittered embossing powder to give them a pretty shimmer.  It's hard to capture in a picture but very pretty in person.  The second picture shows the glittered hearts a little better than the first.  The sentiment is from the Envelope Envy stamp set and I love how the sentiment stands out in white embossing powder on black paper.  I popped it up on a die from bountiful banners.  Here is my card for this week, I hope you get some crafty time in today, it's such great therapy!
Have a great day everyone!

Kat Scrappiness January Challenge

Good morning crafty friends! I work the night shift at the hospital and although I come home exhausted in the morning sometimes I just want to make a card before I go to sleep.  This morning I thought I'd play along with the Kat Scrappiness January challengeKat Scrappiness is an online store that sells lots of crafty goodness like stamps, dies, ink and so much more!  There is also a great assortment of sequins that I love!  The January challenge is to create a clean and simple project.  I chose to make a 4 1/4" square card using Kat's Stitched Fancy Scalloped Square Die and a few sequins from the Barbie Sequin Mix.  I used a "hello" word die from MFT and cut it out of the front panel and then I backed it with some beautiful patterned paper from Bella Blvd.  I popped the panel up with a large foam square to give it some dimension.  I really love how the card came out.  I have to admit it's hard not to go overboard with embellishments and color but the clean and simple look is very appealing!  Hope everyone is enjoying their new year so far!

New Year, New Projects

Hello and Happy New Year!  While browsing YouTube recently I came across a process video showing an art journal page and I was intrigued.  Mixed media has always interested me but I've never really dabbled in it too much. It's funny how card making and art journaling are similar yet different.  I have many of the supplies required for art journaling but there was a few essentials that I needed so of course I had to go shopping.  Sometimes I think buying supplies is almost as much fun as creating with them.  So to make a long story short, I've embarked on a new path to create art journal pages along with my card making.  The best thing about art journaling is that anything goes and there is no right and wrong. It's very freeing!  I love all the colors and techniques available and there are so many great art journalists to learn from on YouTube.  I fell in love with Vicky Papaioannou and Tamara Laporte's art just to name 2 but there are countless more. Here are my first few pages and I like them but obviously with anything new there is room for improvement.  A couple are in an art journal book I bought and 2 are just separate pages to add to a book later.

So much fun to try new things!

Have a great day, I already am!
