Hooray Times Two

Hello and welcome! Today on my blog I have two very different cards using the same die.
I love how versatile the Kat Scrappiness Hooray with Shadow Die is! It is large enough to stand alone on a card and be the main focal point. All you need is an interesting background and your card practically makes itself. I made 2 very different cards today with the Hooray card. One has lots of ink blending and stenciling in the background while the other is more of a clean and simple type of card.

For my first card today I used assorted Distress Oxide Inks in
rainbow colors to get a polka dot ink blended background.

The first step was to take a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and do some ink blending with these Distress Ink colors in this order using an ink blending tool and foam applicators:

I applied these colors to my cardstock with a fairly light hand and then I applied the
Altenew Bubble Wrap stencil to the same panel and went back over the panel with the same colors but using a slightly heavier hand to get the large polka dot stenciled look. I just love how it came out!
Next I used the largest die from the Wonky Wavy Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut a rectangle out from the ink blended panel.  I then took the Kat Scrappiness Hooray with Shadow Die and cut the shadow layer out in black and the actual word layer out in white.  The layers are so easy to put together because the shadow layer is the perfect matte for the word. I added in an extra sentiment under Hooray to make this a birthday card and then I decorated with my favorite embellishment from Kat Scrappiness,  Sparkling Clear Droplets!

I matted the card on a black panel to really make the rainbow colors pop and my card was done.
Here is a look at the card with all the supplies pictured.

For my next card I went a little more CAS but still using the

I also did some ink blending with Distress Inks on this card but only for the word Hooray.
Once again I did a little ink blending with these 3 colors in this order using an ink blending tool and foam applicators:

Once I had the blend the way I wanted I cut the word Hooray out of the panel.  I just love how those 3 colors blend together to give a warm tropical look! I cut the word Hooray out 4 more times, twice in white and 2 more times in a coral color.  I used the white words to give a tone on tone look by adhering them directly to the white card base and the 2 coral words I used to build up the ink blended Hooray die cut.  Once I applied the two white Hooray cuts to the top and bottom of the card I did some ink splattering in gold using the Kuretake watercolor paint in gold to add some interest to the background of the card. Once the ink splattering was done I added the ink blended Hooray to the center of the card and finished off the card with some Altenew Gold Sequins
Here is a look at the card with all the supplies pictured.

Although I don't often make CAS cards, I like how this one came out!

Caffeinated Personality

Good morning and welcome back to Lisa's ICU! The ICU is where I post my monthly Coffee Loving Cardmaker's projects and where I infuse caffeine in your veins via IV!
Just kidding but the image in my head is SOOOOO FUNNY!!

Anyway on to my card.  Today's card makes good use of some GORGEOUS patterned paper from Gracielle Designs. The patterned paper on my card is from a digital download and was made into a physical paper pack.  It is called Coffee Lovers Digital Pack and has 13 high quality 12"x12" printable patterned papers. I ordered the physical paper pack when it was available at Unity Stamps but it is no longer available.  Of course being the paper hoarder that I am, I had to order 2 packs.  I am seriously in LOVE with ALL the patterns in the pack.  I thought it would be fun to make the paper the main focus of my card since it is so full of color and personality!

For the large letter "C" on the front of the card I used the Mega Alphabet C die from Altenew. I grabbed up the whole alphabet during the holidays when they were on sale.  I love the large size of these letters and I wanted it to pop up off the card so I cut it out of the patterned paper and popped it up on foam and set it back in the negative space.
This picture shows off the dimension in the letter C backed by foam.

To finish off my card I used one of the snarky coffee sentiments from The Rabbit Hole Designs stamp set called Perfectly Blended. I just love how the words pop when you heat emboss them in white on dark paper.

When you have such gorgeous patterned paper to start with, the rest of the card just falls into place!
Thanks for stopping by today for your caffeine fix!
Have a caffeinated day, I already am!

Altenew Peruvian Lily Card

I have had the Altenew Peruvian Lily Build-A-Flower for a couple of
months now and just never seem to find the time to ink it up.
I finally had some time this morning and I'm so glad I did!
This flower is drop dead GORGEOUS!!!! Not to mention so much fun to stamp.
It really is easy to line up and the results are breathtaking!
Thank goodness I don't need a sympathy card right now but I think
this flower makes such an elegant card and is so appropriate for a card like this.
The scalloped die on the base of the card is the Kat Scrappiness
Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Die and it is my go to scalloped die.
My sentiment if from the Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background stamp
and I just love that stamp and die set! If you haven't already seen that product
you must check it out! It stamps and cuts out multiple sentiments in 2 easy steps.
It's a great way to build a sentiment stash to have on hand!

The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge for this week is
Clean and Simple so I'm going to enter this card over there.
It's been a while since I played along, I really do love their challenges!

Thanks for stopping by the old blog today!
Have a wonderful day, I already am!

Nested Scalloped Heart Notecards for Scrapbook.com

Hello again crafty friends!
Today I am back with a fun project made possible by Scrapbook.com!
They have provided me with some really fun products to get crafty with and I made 4 mini notecards with their pretty Nested Scalloped Hearts. I will provide you with all the steps that I took so you can make your own set of note cards as well!  Let's get started!

First let me share with you a picture of all the wonderful products that Scrapbook.com provided to  help me get crafty and make these adorable note cards!

Here is a list of all the products in the picture with links to where you can purchase them!

I started by cutting out 8 hearts with the largest Nested Scalloped Heart die and then I embossed 4 of them with 2 different embossing folders.  I think they look great with all of that texture and detail!
I left 4 of them plain so they could be the backs to the cards.

The next step was to make the notecards out of all the hearts. I took the 4 plain hearts that had not been embossed and I scored them a short way down so I could fold them down and apply Permanent Adhesive Roller to them and adhere them to the embossed hearts.

Now it's time to decorate the hearts. For the first 2 hearts I used the Altenew Rose Flurries dies and Lawn Fawn Scripty Thanks and Love dies to glam them up!

I took the Cardinal Red Premium Hybrid Ink and Candy Shop Pink Premium Hybrid Ink and sponged the 2 colors on to the Neenah Solar White A2 Scored Notecards using two of the
Jumbo Sponge Daubers. I repeated the same process for the leaves but with green inks.

I just love how using the 2 different color in inks blended together gave a nice varied pattern to the roses.  After the roses were cut I did splatter some extra ink and white splatters on them for extra interest!  I love how easily the Jumbo Sponge Daubers picked up the ink and spread over the
Neenah Solar White A2 Scored Notecards.  They are bright white and sturdy enough to make ink blending a breeze! The next step was to add the Lawn Fawn Scripty Thanks and Love dies to the hearts and I knew that some gold foil card stock would really dress them up!  I just love the way they came out, the gold foil really stands out next to those beautiful roses!

For the next 2 hearts I actually used 3 different sizes of the Nested Scalloped Hearts.

The second layer on top of the embossed heart was cut with a beautiful patterned paper from
Carta Bella called the Rustic Elegance Collection. I placed one of the Nested Scalloped Hearts over the cluster of roses that I liked in 2 different spots on the patterned paper and I had a customized die cut with exactly the roses I wanted.  I am so in love with this paper, it's texture is lovely as well!

For my top layer on these notecards, I decided to use vellum so the beautiful roses would peek through softly.  I certainly didn't want to cover them up and the vellum was the perfect choice to heat emboss my sentiments on.  I used a smaller Nested Scalloped Heart cut from vellum and stamped 2 sentiments with the Large Acrylic Stamp Block in Black Premium Hybrid Ink and then heat embossed them with clear powder.  I just love how crisp the Black Premium Hybrid Ink stamps!

I thought it would be fun to hold all 3 layers together with some fancy paper clips for some extra interest.  It's hard to hide adhesive behind vellum so the paper clips were a fun and practical alternative!  I just love the layered look and I think they came together nicely!

Here is another look at all of the gorgeous notecards all together again:

I'd like to say a big thank you to Scrapbook.com for all of these fun products!  I really had fun creating these mini notecards with the Nested Scalloped Hearts and I have lots more ideas in mind for them! All of the products they sent me are very high quality and made crafting a breeze!

Caffeinated Bee Spinner Cards

Good morning crafty friends and welcome to my blog!
Today I am up on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog with my last post as a guest
designer for the month of March.
It's been so much fun guest designing for this great new company!
I just adore their fun and quirky stamps! Make sure to check them out!
I have 2 fun spinner cards for you.
I used the Rabbit Hole Caffeinated Bee stamp to make an
interactive spinner card and I decided to do it 2 different ways.

The first card has the spinner on the front of the card and when
the card is opened it spins around on a string.
I mirror stamped the bee on both cards so I could have the identical
symmetrical image on both sides of the spinner.

There are many YouTube videos showing the construction of a spinner card.
They are actually quite easy to make and they look very impressive when
opened by the recipient.
Here is a link to another spinner card I made recently,
I used a bunny for the spinner but the construction is the same.
***Bunny Spinner Card***

The second card has the spinner on the inside of the card but essentially
acts the same way with the bee spinning wildly when the card is opened.

Here are 2 short videos showing the mechanism of the
spinner when the cards are opened.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
I hope you enjoyed my cards and maybe you'll
give the spinner card a try!

Altenew January Inspiration Challenge

I'm back again today with another gorgeous floral Altenew creation for the January Inspiration Challenge.
I had forgotten how much I love the Painted Flowers stamp set.  I really need to keep that set on my desk and use it more.  I made a shaker card today using on of the pretty roses as a background under the shaker bits.  This card is really over the top with glitter paper and lots of sparkly sequins but I love how it turned out!
For some reason I had a very hard time photographing this card, I just couldn't get it bright enough.  Maybe it was the glitter paper but it was not cooperating with the camera at all!
I used the painted Happy Birthday die from Simon Says Stamp and some gorgeous sequins from Kat Scrapiness.  Ok since I work night shift I really should go take a nap now.  It's hard to pull myself away from my craft room!
Have a great day everyone!
I already am!

Altenew January 2018 Inspiration Challenge

Today I'm joining Altenew for their January Inspiration Challenge.  The inspiration photo has some brightly colored flowers and I was in the mood to try some watercoloring today.  I used the Tulip stamp set and after I stamped the tulip images I watercolored them with watercolor pencils.  Next I stamped the stems on a piece of white cardstock and then embossed the panel with a woodgrain embossing folder.  The next step was to cut out the tulips and pop them up on the embossed panel.  I added some stickles over top of the flowers to give them some sparkle.  The sentiment from the same stamp set was then heat embossed in white on a kraft color banner I cut from the MFT fishtail flag die set.  Lately I've been loving adding twine bows to my cards so I pulled out my lovely PTI twine and made a bow.  Here is my card for today.  I'm quite happy with how it turned out. πŸ’—πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™

Thanks for visiting my blog today, I hope you are enjoying your day, I certainly am!
