Florals on Wood

I'm up on the Kat Scrappiness blog today with a quick post.
I wanted to share two cards that I made using pretty florals on a wood background.  The first card uses bright flowers on a dark wood background. The sentiment is from the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set.

The second one uses pastel flowers on a lighter wood background and the sentiment is from the Everyday Brushstrokes stamp set.

I've always loved the combination of flowers and wood together!  The Stitched Scalloped Collage Frame Die  on the first card, and the Stitched Diagonal Backdrop Die  on the second one created the perfect backgrounds to achieve these 2 looks.  The 2 cards came together fairly easily.  I used some wood patterned paper for the backgrounds and some flower dies from my stash.  To give the flowers some dimension I inked the edges of the pastel ones and dry embossed them and for the bright flowers I lifted the edges off the card.
To add some bling to my cards I placed some Sparkling Clear Flower Blossom sequins on the flowers and around the edges.  I hope you enjoyed the cards today, I will be back next week with some new cards using some exciting new stamps and dies from our September release so make sure to check back then!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Hi everyone.  I'm playing along this week with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge.  This week is anything goes but also to use Wplus9 stamps if you have.
I chose to use 2 stamp sets that I have from Wplus9.  They are Paisley Patterns and Fresh Cut Florals.  I just adore floral stamps and dies.  I stamped a random pattern on my background using the Paisley Patterns stamp set with a variety of different Papertrey Ink colors and then I layered the background with an intricate die from Kat Scrappiness.  That frame is called the Wood Grain Framed Wire die and I've been using it a lot lately.  It just seems to go with everything!
I made a focal point for my sentiment using 2 more dies from Kat Scrappiness called
Stitched Scalloped Oval and Stitched Fishtail Banners.  I heat embossed a partial sentiment from Fresh Cut Florals onto the fishtail banner and adhered it to the scalloped oval.  I die cut the word "you" from the Lawn Fawn Quinn's ABC's die set and added it to the oval focal point.
For the last added touch I die cut some flowers from the Fresh Cut Florals and arranged them on the top corner of the oval.
Here is a picture with all of the supplies used.

Thanks for stopping by today to check out my card!

Papertrey Ink MIM Inchie Elements

I love Make it Monday with Papertrey Ink.
I've missed a few but I wish I joined in weekly.  I'll have to work on that!
This week's MIM theme is Inchie Elements and Lexi Daly has made an adorable card using some adorable sea creatures.  I decided to use an old set called Honey Bees.
I wanted to make my inchie squares a little fancy so I used some
Stitched Scalloped Squares by Kat Scrappiness.
I love how this card turned out.  Here's a pic with all the supplies I used. I accidentally
left out the Hexagon Stencil and
I also used the new Grid Stamp by Dawn McVey!  I love that stamp!
Have a great day!

Happy Father's Day

Hello Kat Scrappiness fans!  It's my turn today over on the Kat Scrappiness blog and I'm sharing an eclipse card that I made for Father's Day.  I used one of the new dies in the shop this month called Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Dies.  I also used the Large Alpha dies to form the focal point of the card after I made a background with the Dad's Tools stamp set

I started by die cutting a white panel from one of the stitched rectangle dies and stamping the hammer and nails randomly all over in every direction.  I made sure to stamp some of the hammers and nails off of the card for a more random look.  Once the background was done I die cut the letter D A D out of the panel.  The next step was to die cut the same letters out of black paper two more times.  I adhered the black letters to each other and made the top layer the letter that was cut from the stamped background.  The last step was to cut the letters out one more time from double sided foam tape to pop the letters up on the card.  I adhered the stamped panel to a black card base and fit the thick letters back in like a jigsaw puzzle.  Because they had black layers under them they appear to have a shadow under them making them stand out.  I finished the card with a sentiment from Dad's Tools heat embossed with white on to a stitched flag and popped it up on foam tape.

I love to decorate the inside of my cards with a coordinating stamp and sentiment so I stamped Mr. Fix It on the inside with a hammer and a few nails to finish the card off.

The eclipse card is such a fun technique and you can check out YouTube for a great video showing this technique by my other Kat Scrappiness team member Tina Dornbaum.

Unicorn Magic

Hello crafty friends!  It's my turn today on the Kat Scrappiness blog!  This months new release includes some great dies that will let your creativity run wild!  These are nested dies in 4 different shapes that have scalloped edges with detailed stitching inside.  There are rectangles, ovals, squares and circles.  For my unicorn card I used the largest Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Die to make a top folding card.  I folded my card stock in half and placed the die on top with the top edge of the die off the card and sent it through my die cut machine.

I love this technique because I don't have to add an extra layer to my card but I still get the decorative edge to my top layer.  The result is a top folded card with pretty edges and some detailed stitching.

The next step was to cut an oval scalloped circle out of white paper to build my unicorn on.

I used the Magical Unicorn stamp set by Pinkfresh Studio to decorate the oval.  I started by prepping my paper with my Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pad and then I stamped the unicorn horn with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts gold embossing powder. I used the matching die to cut out the horn.  Next I stamped the eyelashes directly on to the oval in Versamark ink again and I heat embossed it with black sparkle embossing powder. It is important to prep your paper with the embossing magic pad before using black embossing powder so that you don't have any stray powder on the white paper.  Once the powder is melted you can't erase that stray powder.  After stamping and embossing those pretty eyelashes I had to give my unicorn some pretty blush and eye shadow.  For the blush I used Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink  and a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Marker together.  I smooshed some Worn Lipstick on to some acetate and then I mixed it with the Spectrum Noir Marker and used a dauber to sponge on some cheeks.  I repeated the same process with some Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink for the eye shadow and I applied it with a thin paint brush.

For some extra special sparkle I stamped the star stamp from the Magical Unicorn set in Gold Delicata ink next to the eyelashes.

After the makeup was done I worked on the headband. I used the matching dies from the Magical Unicorn set to cut out some pretty pink flowers and I used the Lawn Fawn Flamingo Together stamp set to add some pretty green foliage to the headband. To add some shine I die cut a gold glittered swirl border die and tucked it under the largest flower.
For a final shiny touch I added 3 Sparkling Clear Solid Confetti pieces to the middle flower.

I clear embossed the sentiment after I stamped it in Versamark ink to make it shine.
I popped up the oval on foam tape to a light green card base and the card was done.  I just love all the sparkle and shine on this card.
