Florals on Wood

I'm up on the Kat Scrappiness blog today with a quick post.
I wanted to share two cards that I made using pretty florals on a wood background.  The first card uses bright flowers on a dark wood background. The sentiment is from the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set.

The second one uses pastel flowers on a lighter wood background and the sentiment is from the Everyday Brushstrokes stamp set.

I've always loved the combination of flowers and wood together!  The Stitched Scalloped Collage Frame Die  on the first card, and the Stitched Diagonal Backdrop Die  on the second one created the perfect backgrounds to achieve these 2 looks.  The 2 cards came together fairly easily.  I used some wood patterned paper for the backgrounds and some flower dies from my stash.  To give the flowers some dimension I inked the edges of the pastel ones and dry embossed them and for the bright flowers I lifted the edges off the card.
To add some bling to my cards I placed some Sparkling Clear Flower Blossom sequins on the flowers and around the edges.  I hope you enjoyed the cards today, I will be back next week with some new cards using some exciting new stamps and dies from our September release so make sure to check back then!
If you haven't entered our monthly card challenge yet make sure to do so!  You still have today and tomorrow and you could win a $25 gift certificate to the shop! Get out your coffee and critter stamps and dies and click here to enter!

Papertrey Ink Make it Monday #333

Hello everyone, I'm back today to take part in another
Make it Monday Challenge with Papertrey Ink!  I love Dawn's challenge today, she always has the prettiest cards and unique ideas!  This week the challenge is layering patterns over images.
I took out my Farmers Market Florals today for my base images and added in a few elements from the Mini Blooms set.  I chose the Cover Up Grid stamp to cover the flowers and I stamped it in Hibiscus Burst so it would stand out and also match one of the colors in the flowers.  I added a sentiment from Penned Elegance (MY FAVORITE) sentiment set by the way...
I split the main panel with a beautiful new die from Kat Scrappiness called Stitched Scalloped Borders to add a little more interest similar to Dawn's card.
Although I like how the card turned out it's not exactly what I had in mind.  It'a always a surprise to see the finished card and how different it is compared to what I initially imagined.  I do however love a challenge!
I am so excited to be attending SAF with these lovely ladies!
Only 4 more days!
I can't wait!
Enjoy your Monday, I already am!

Kat Scrappiness August Challenge

Today I have a project to share with you that I made for the Kat Scrappiness August Challenge.  The theme is Coffee and Critters.

I wanted to make a dashboard that I could give to my daughter to add to her planner.  I used the Kat Scrappiness Layered Coffee Cup die and the adorable Lola the Giraffe stamp set to create this 6 3/4" x 3 3/4" dashboard.

How cute is that giraffe???๐Ÿฆ’๐Ÿฆ’๐Ÿฆ’
My daughter Taylor is into planning and she has the prettiest planners decorated with the cutest embellishments!
She has several YouTube videos showing flip throughs of her gorgeous Foxy Fix planners!  You can see her videos on YouTube at PrettyPaperPieces4U!
For some added interest I used some Fabrika Decoru Enamel Drops on my project in the Strong Coffee color for some extra dimension. These drops are available at Kat Scrappiness in a wide variety of colors.
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you'll join the August challenge at Kat Scrappiness and play along!  You could win a $25.00 gift certificate to the Kat Scrappiness store!

Crafty Cards Two Ways and a Giveaway!

It's my turn today over on the Kat Scrappiness blog and I have a real treat for all of you crafty guys and gals out there!  Kat has a new stamp set available in her store this month that is dedicated to the crafter in you!

It's called Crafters Gonna Craft and you're going to love it!  It has all kinds of crafty themed stamps but I think my favorite one is the marker, or maybe the scissors, or maybe the sequins....  Oh well obviously I can't decide!
The other thing I have a hard time deciding on is what style of card making I like the best. My favorite style is definitely soft colors and a shabby chic theme but I also love to mix it up with bold colors and graphic elements.  I guess I just love to try new things.  Today I thought I'd make two different style cards with the same stamp set.  The first card is bold, bright and graphic.

For this card I started out with some Bristol smooth paper and inked the background with Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide inks.
The next step was to take all of the stamps from the Crafters Gonna Craft stamp set and arrange them randomly over the inked background and stamp them repeatedly in different positions.  I made sure to stamp some of them off the page to give a more random look.
After I stamped all of the images I trimmed the panel down with the largest die from the
Distressed Edge Rectangle die set. I spritzed the panel with water droplets to give it a more distressed appearance. The sentiment was stamped with Versamark Ink onto black card stock. The card stock was cut with the smallest die from that same die set and heat embossed with white powder to make it really stand out.  I popped the sentiment up on foam tape to give it some dimension.  To finish off the card and give it a little bit of shine, I added some Sparkling Clear Solid Confetti in the 4mm and 6mm sizes.

For my second card using the same stamp set I turned to my personal favorite style, soft and shabby.

I wanted the graphics on this card to have a very soft look so I pulled out some of my favorite shabby chic patterned paper and stamped the 4 main elements on it and hand cut them out.  I cut a white panel using the largest die from the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle dies and stamped the heart randomly in two different colors and they look as if they are floating around. I used the pretty patterned paper to cover the bottom of that panel.  For the focal point of the card I die cut a tag from the Stitched Scalloped Nesting Tags and embossed it with a pretty script embossing folder. I adhered the glue bottle, marker, scissors and pencil to the tag and covered the bottom with a pretty piece of white lace from my stash. I topped off the tag with a pretty twine bow at the top in mint green to match the color scheme. I stamped the sentiment "Happiness is handmade" under the tag in black to really make it stand out.
To finish off the card I added some Fabrika Enamel Drops in the color Gentle Shabby all around the card. What an appropriately named color for this card!

It always amazes me how different a card can look using the exact same stamp set! The sky is the limit when you are creating and it is one of my most favorite things about this hobby.  If you can dream it, you can create it!

Happy Little Stampers ATC August Challenge

Hello everyone!
I am back again with the

Every month Happy Little Stampers has an ATC challenge and the theme for August is Water!  For anyone who isn't familiar with ATC cards, they are mini works of art that measure 2.5" x 3.5" and are traded around the world. Usually they are numbered and signed on the back by the artist.

For my project I created 3 ATC's with faux
watercolored backgrounds made with Distress Inks.
Here are the 3 cards I made for this challenge.

I watercolored 3 adorable sea creatures hand drawn by a very talented designer in the UK named Tracey Hey.

Her website is called Alpaca Pals and she has the cutest stamps with some of the most adorable critters you've ever seen!

Here are closeups of the individual cards.

I hope you'll play along with us this month and enter the ATC challenge at Happy Little Stampers!
The winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop!

IF YOU USE STAMPS BY HAPPY LITTLE STAMPERS AND YOU ARE OUR RANDOM WINNER, YOUR PRIZE WILL BE DOUBLED!

Have a great day, I already am!

Mama Elephant GD Call

Playing with the Mama Elephant Potted Pretties tonight for the Mama Elephant Guest Designer Call.  I recently bought some Copic Express It paper and tried some Copic coloring. I love how it turned out!  The background is a Kat Scrappiness Diamond Wire Die, I liked it because I thought it looked like a trellis and the plants went well on it.

This month is challenge #23 and it runs from 8/5 - 8/31
and the theme is anything goes with an optional twist "anything but a card"
I thought it would be cute to make a milk carton and add a cute frog to go with that sweet sentiment. The frog is from Clearly Besotted and the grass and milk carton are dies from Lawn Fawn.

Simply Create Too August Challenge 141

Hello crafty friends and welcome to my blog! I am so excited to be joining the design team over at the Simply Create Too challenge blog this month. The August challenge goes from August 3rd to the 31st and the theme is "Make a Bookmark".

I had a great time coming up with a cute bookmark. Usually I'm making cards so this was a nice change and bookmarks are so quick to whip up. I chose to start with a bookmark die from Papertrey Ink and I cut it out of watercolor paper. Next I did some fast and loose watercoloring on the bookmark to give it a colorful whimsical background.

For the focal point of the bookmark I chose to use an adorable stamp from Tracey Hey at Alpaca Pals. I used the French Bulldog image from her "Frenchie" stamp set and I watercolored him and cut him out with my scan n cut machine. I adhered him to the bookmark and stamped a sentiment from Lawn Fawn. I hand drew some black lines around the sentiment to make it stand out.

After I made the bookmark my daughter snatched it up for her planner and my other daughter wanted one but with a blue background and longer so I just had to whip up another one for her. Here are the 2 of them side by side.

I just love that sweet doggie! Tracey has some adorable stamp sets on her website Alpaca Pals, head over and check them out!
Take some time this month to make a bookmark and play along with us at the Simply Create Too challenge blog!

Heart Shaker Card

Hi everyone! I'm up on the blog again at Kat Scrappiness today to bring you a pretty little shaker card!  I have the privilege of introducing some new products that are available in the
shop this month.
One of the products is a set of nested Stitched Scalloped Heart dies and the second product is a set of Stitched Scalloped Border dies. I'm just loving the combination of the scallops and the stitching together!  I used the Stitched Scalloped Border dies to cut some white card stock and I popped it up on foam tape over the patterned paper on the bottom of the card front.

I made a shaker element out of the Stitched Scalloped Heart dies and filled it with a combination of the 4 mm Sparkling Clear Solid Confetti Mix and the 3 mm Transparent Coral Hearts.

There are over 400 sequin mixes in the Kat Scrappiness shop to choose from so you can go shaker card crazy!

Shaker cards are so much fun to make, I hope you'll give one a try and thanks for stopping by!
