Sorry I Was Crabby!

Good morning everyone and welcome back to my blog!
Today I am up on The Rabbit Hole Designs blog and I have a fun layered card using the Caffeinated Crab stamp set with a sentiment from the SoFishticated stamp set as well!

Here's the card recipe:
  • Start with a white A2 sized card base
  • Trim black card stock to 5 1/4" x 4" and glue to card base. Trim patterned paper to 5" x 3 3/4" and glue to black panel. Trim another piece of black card stock to 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" and glue to patterned paper.
  • Trim white card stock to 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" and stamp image all over making sure to stamp off the page in random places. Adhere stamped panel to 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" piece of black card stock already glued in place.

  • Cut a 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" piece of white card stock and glue a small triangle of your patterned paper from above to top corner. Color and cut Caffeinated Crab and pop up on white panel. Place white panel on black panel measuring 2" x 2".

  • Stamp sentiment from SoFishticated on to a speech bubble die cut and place over crab with foam tape.
  • Stamp #crabby from the Caffeinated Crab set in the lower corner of your stamped panel.

I love the layered look of this card and the red, black and white color scheme.
That tired crab looks so funny stamped randomly all over the white panel.
I'm so glad you stopped by today!

Lisa Bzibziak is hosting a challenge over at the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog
for all of the Super Sponsors from the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop until June 30th.
Since The Rabbit Hole Designs is a super sponsor I am entering my crabby card in the challenge.
Why don't you make a caffeinated inspired card of your own and play along using one of the super sponsor's stamps! The Rabbit Hole Designs has a WHOLE line of caffeinated critters that would be perfect for this challenge!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Good morning crafty friends!
Today is my day on the Rabbit Hole blog and
it just so happens to be my 50th birthday as well!
I thought it would be fun to make a birthday card in my honor!
It's been a rough week for me so it's kind of appropriate that these
guys aren't smiling.
Putting party hats on their heads just made
me laugh since they don't look like they are in a party mood.
My 13 year old son is just getting over the flu and my dad has been in
the hospital since Mother's Day so the mood around here hasn't been
very happy. I'm ready to put it all behind me and
get everyone healthy again!

All in all though I really like how the card came out, the rainbow
letters really stand out against the black and white background.
Here is a list of all the caffeinated critters used on my card:

Thanks for joining me today for my birthday, I hope you enjoyed
my card, these caffeinated critters really can be used for any
type of card you want to make..... just change up your sentiment.

Crabby Coffee Card

Hello crafty friends, I'm up on the Kat Scrappiness blog today and
I'm sharing a card using 2 stamp sets from one of the new
vendors in the Kat Scrappiness shop!
The Rabbit Hole Designs is a new company that has
fun and creative stamps with a dash of quirky and sassy!
They have a whole line of caffeinated critter stamps and today
I am using the Caffeinated Crab on my card!
The sentiment is from the Perfectly Blended stamp set.
This coffee and tea themed sentiment set has the funniest
sayings and pair so perfectly with the caffeinated critters from The Rabbit Hole!
I got the super cute patterned paper from Michaels with crabs
all over it and I thought it would be the perfect background for my tired crab!

I used the Zig Zag Border dies on some kraft paper and then I made it look like
faux sand using a technique I showed in this YouTube video:
I also die cut some shells and gave them the same look as the sand.
The crab patterned paper was cut out using the Zig Zag Rectangle dies
and I layered the kraft paper on top of it.  Since I used the Zig Zag border dies,
it layered perfectly on top. The bottom layer of my sun was cut using
the starburst die from the Crafter's Essentials II dies.
The sentiment is from the Perfectly Blended stamp set by The Rabbit Hole
and I mounted it on to a small die from the Zig Zag Rectangle dies.

I just love these fun stamps from The Rabbit Hole and I think you will too!
As always don't forget to use my code LISA10 in the Kat Scrappiness
shop for 10% off your entire order!

***Don't forget about the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop still going on until May 10th!***
Kat Scrappiness and The Rabbit Hole Designs are both super sponsors of this
event and if you join in and hop along there are terrific prizes being
offered by tons of fun crafty companies!

Thanks so much for joining me today and have a great day, I already am!

Faux Sand for the Caffeinated Crab with Video

Welcome back to my blog friends!
I am up on the Rabbit Hole Designs blog today with another fun card!
I have a card and video to share with you that features a new
technique I recently learned.  I have a way to turn plain kraft card stock
into faux sand! It's so easy to do and so much fun!
Thank goodness for the crafty goddesses that pave the way,
I learned this technique recently from watching a video
by Koren Wiskman where she made the cutest Travelocity gnome.
Her videos are super funny and helpful!
All you need is some paint splatter and some shimmer mist!
I wanted to used the Caffeinated Crab on my card today and I thought
that the perfect background for him was some beach sand!
I even filmed a short video to show you how easy the process is.

The card construction is pretty simple.
I stamped and watercolored 3 tired crabs and used my scan n cut to cut them out.
Once I had the crabs ready to go I also cut out 3 seashells to layer behind them.
I used the Bold Stripes Cover-Up die from My Favorite Things for my background.
It was the perfect die since it had lots of slits in it which was perfect for
slipping my crabs behind.  I stamped #crabby next to each crab and the card was done!

Here is a closeup of the sand so you can see the detail.

See... easy peasy card construction but the fun part was the sand.
Here is a short video to show you how you can make your own!
You can watch it here or on YouTube.

Crabby Beach Shaker

Good morning and welcome to my blog!
Today I'm up on the The Rabbit Hole Designs blog with my
second guest designer project for March.
I had a lot of fun creating a beachy card for you with some
actual Florida sand and one very tired crab!

For my card I used the newly released Caffeinated Crab stamp.
How cute is he with that coffee cup in one hand and a doughnut in the other!
Here are the steps to create this card:

  1. First I stamped my crab in black ink and colored him in with my Zig markers, then cut him out with my Scan n Cut machine and put him aside.
  2. For my background I took a piece of smooth card stock and blended 3 colors of Distress Oxide inks over the Water Ripples stencil from La-La Land Crafts. Broken China, Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass.
  3. Once the background was complete I took the largest Kat Scrappiness Wonky Wavy Stitched Rectangle die and the next size smaller to cut out a panel and a frame at the same time. I adhered acetate to the frame portion and built it up the edges with foam tape.
  4. Next step was to skip work and spend the day at the beachπŸ–☀️⛵️⚓️Well how else was I going to collect sand for my shaker card???
  5. Pour authentic Jupiter beach sand and some beautiful Frozen II sequin mix on to base of card.  I also glued some sequins to the top of the base so they would stay in view when the shaker was shaking!πŸ˜‚ (Kat Scrappiness literally has hundreds of sequins and mixes to choose from!)

  6. Cover base with shaker guts in place with prepared acetate backed frame.
  7. Last step was to send that tired crab to the beach for some much needed R & R! I added a sand castle for him to sleep in and a beach ball so he could play with his friends!

  8. Oh yeah one more thing....... shake card for all family members to see and hear until they're annoyed and tell you to go away.🀦🏼‍♀️πŸ™…πŸΌ‍♂️πŸ™…πŸΌ‍♀️🀦🏼‍♂️

I'm super happy with my little beachy card and I hope you'll
try out a shaker card with some fun elements too!
Tell your boss Lisa said it's ok to skip work and go to the beach!

I have four cards to share with you today using these
fabulous new stamp sets.

The first card features the Caffeinated Bee and
he's buzzing in on his
honeycomb embossed card to say hi.

Bee Card Details
  • Stamp bee and color with your favorite markers or pencils then cut out with scissors or electronic cutting machine.
  • Stencil honeycomb pattern on paper with yellow ink and cut a circle out from pattern using the second largest Double Stitched Circle dieInk edges with black ink.
  • Cover lower half of card base with black and white polka dot patterned paper, cover top half of card with honeycomb embossed white paper. Cut decorative edge on embossed panel with the Stitched Scalloped Border dies
  • Pop embossed panel up on foam tape.
  • Stamp #buzzed sentiment on yellow Stitched Flag Die and adhere with foam tape to lower right side of card base.

For my second card I used the Caffeinated Crab and
he's having his morning
coffee on a fun shaker card.

Crab Card Details
  • Stamp crab and color with your favorite markers or pencils then cut out by hand or electronic cutter.
  • Next on a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of smooth card stock, ink blend some Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers distress ink then sprinkle with droplets of water for underwater theme.  Stamp bubbles from the So-Fishticated stamp set randomly over panel. Adhere panel to card base.
  • Die cut Stitched diagonal backdrop die from Kraft paper and adhere acetate to back of panel. Build up back of acetate with foam tape to allow shaker guts to move around freely.
  • Mix up your favorite assortment of sequins and pour onto card base then place diagonal backdrop die over sequins.
  • Die cut Stitched Sentiment Strip in kraft paper and stamp sentiment in black ink. Cut strip from leftover background paper and mat sentiment strip on it.
  • Stamp #crabby on kraft paper, distress edges and hand cut to appear as a small sign, place on thin rectangle to act as sign post.
  • Pop crab up on foam tape over sign.

For my third card I used the Caffeinated Flamingo
and she's surrounded
by a tropical jungle looking #flahmazing!

Flamingo Card Details
  • Start by die cutting the 2 largest Wonky Wavy Stitched Rectangle dies out while nested in one another to create a frame. Shade frame with Spun Sugar Distress Ink and spray with water droplets for a soft effect.
  • Cut smooth white card stock panel to fit behind frame and use Broken China Distress Ink to blend over panel, spray with water droplets for a soft effect.
  • Take frame and background pieces and leaves and splatter with white paint randomly.
  • Cut smooth white card stock panel and ink blend Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio Distress Inks to cover panel then cut some random leaf dies out of panel, spray with water droplets for a soft effect as with frame and background panel.
  • Take frame, background panel and leaves and cover with white splattered paint.
  • Stamp sentiment on to Broken China background panel and adhere to card base.
  • Apply leaves randomly to frame before adhering over background panel.
  • Pop that tired flamingo up on some foam tape and bling up your card with some Clear Jewels for some sparkle and shine!

My last project features the Easter Bounty stamp set.
I used these stamps to make a shaker tag and a milk
carton treat box.

Easter Bounty Project Details

  • The first thing I did was to stamp the 2 bunnies and their coordinating accessories with Gina K Amalgam ink and I used my copic markers to color all of them.
  • For the tag I used a Pretty Pink Posh tag die to create a shaker tag.  I used 2 different Kat Scrappiness sequins inside the tag: Sun Kissed and Magical Unicorn mixes.
  • The milk carton was made with the Lawn Fawn milk carton die and I cut the grass with a Lawn Fawn grass die as well.  I made a stencil with the Lawn Fawn cloud die so I could add some clouds to the carton with Broken China distress ink.
  • To finish off both projects I added coordinating bows to them and for the milk carton I used a mini clothespin to hold the bow in place.
