Kat Scrappiness Holiday CARDAPALOOZA!

Welcome to my blog! Today I have a lot to share with you!
The November release at Kat Scrappiness is amazing and I want to share all of the projects I made using the brand new dies and sprinkles!

I'm going to start with my favorite dies from the release! They are called the

Christmas Shaker Ornament Dies and there are 3 different shapes included in this set. They make the cutest little shakers and I made 4 cards with them but then I took it a step further and created some felt ornaments with them as well. I made most of them with the sewing machine (with my mom's help) and one of them I hand stitched with floss thread. Here are the cards and felt ornaments I created using the fabulous die set.

I will list all linked products used on each project directly under their pictures!

I have a holiday card and a birthday card to share with you using this new die!

The next die I want to share with you today is another Slimline Die called the
Forest For The Trees Slimline Die and it features a wonderful forest that you can use year round depending on how you decorate it! It also comes with 3 different size mini leaves to decorate your trees with depending on the season!

Here is my card using the Forest For The Trees Slimline Die and it features a Winter Wonderland scene using dies from the Crafter's Essentials Winter Dies.

And last but certainly not least I have one more shaker card to share with you that features an older Kat Scrappiness die that is just perfect for all of your holiday cards!

What an elegant die and it's so easy to create a shaker card using the multiple layers that come with it. You can make separate shaker sections or make one big shaker like I did.  I decided to make a holiday card in some non-traditional colors. This card is pretty simple to let the tree and sequins take center stage.

Avocado Sushi Birthday Shaker

I'm excited to share a shaker card with you today that I made for my post on the Kat Scrappiness blog! I used quite a few products from the Kat Scrappiness store to make this fun card.
Here's the details:

To start my card I colored the cute images from the You Guac My World Stamp Set and the
Wok On Stamp Set.  I decided to use one image from each set for my card. The next step was to cut the front panel of the card using the Stitched Scalloped Collage Frame Die which served as the perfect shaker window.  It's great because it makes 3 windows that you can put different shaker bits in. I backed that frame with a piece of acetate from the A2 Acetate Sheets and then built the back of it up with foam tape.

Now it was time to prepare the base of the card. I used the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Dies and I cut out a piece of pink polka dot paper for my background.  Before I adhered that panel to the base of my A2 sized card I stamped 2 sentiments in black ink from the You Guac My World and
Wok On Stamp Sets in the space that will be the largest window opening.  I embossed it with clear embossing powder to give it a shiny appearance.

Now the fun part! Adding the sprinkles to the card! The technique that I use is to put my sprinkles on the base of the card and place the frame with the foam tape over those sprinkles. This way I can see the sprinkles and the base of the card and I can place the window down in the exact center of that base panel.
I chose 3 different embellishments for my shaker windows. I used the Avocado Sprinkles and the Sushi Sprinkles for the two smaller windows and I used the 3mm Mirrored Clear Solid Stars for the largest window with the sentiment. The last thing to do was adhere the two little avocado and sushi images to the front of the card. Here's a closeup of those fun sprinkles:

This was a fun card to make and it always amazes me how many products you can use on one card.  Kat Scrappiness has so many awesome stamps dies and embellishments in the store, you can find EVERYTHING you need and so much more!
Here is one more look at my card with all the supplies shown:

Take a look at this card in action, it's so much fun to watch in slow motion!

I just love watching them shake in slow motion!

Thank you so much for joining me today, I'm so glad you stopped by to check out my latest card and I hope you'll check out all the fun shaker bits in the store and make your own card.

You're a Star Shaker Card

I'm shakin' it up today on my blog!
Kat Scrappiness has the most awesome shaker kits and they are super easy to use!
For my card today I used the Star/Splat Shaker Dimension Set and I filled it with some Party Confetti Sprinkles and some Sparkling Clear Jewels. There are lots of shaker kits available in the shop, here is a list of some of the newer ones:

Here is a look at the Shaker Kit, Sprinkles and Jewels on my card:

This card was a lot of fun to make and super easy!
I'll walk you through the steps involved in putting it together.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I started with a kraft card base and I decided to make a smaller card than usual so that the shaker would be the main focus on the card. My card measures 3 1/2" x 10" and is scored at the 5" mark so my completed card is 3 1/2" x 5".

Step 1 - Adhere shaker foam base (included in kit) to front of card using
Nuvo Deluxe adhesive and give it a minute or two to dry.

Step 2 - NOW COMES THE FUN PART! Add your shaker bits into the well created by the foam. You can choose whatever you want and lucky for you Kat has a TON of sprinkles, sequins, confetti and other fun bits to make your shaker card SHAKE! I chose the Party Confetti Sprinkles and Sparkling Clear Jewels for my card. Make sure you don't add too much so you'll be able to shake those bits!

Step 3 - Prepare die cut top frame. I traced the die cut star frame in the kit on to patterned paper and cut it out. I used a piece of patterned paper from the Honey Bee Over the Rainbow paper pack. If you don't want to fussy cut your shape you could paint the frame or use markers on it or even do some heat embossing like I did on this card → Diamond Shaker Card.

Step 4 - Once your frame looks the way you want it to you can glue the acetate sheet included in the kit to the back of the frame. Now glue your frame to your foam base.  I used Nuvo Deluxe adhesive and it worked perfectly.

That's it! 4 EASY steps to a super cute shaker card!

You can decorate the rest of the card however you want but the shaker portion is quick and easy.  I used the Lawn Fawn Lucky Stars stamp set and heat embossed the sentiment on to black paper using a VersaMark Clear Embossing Pad and some Ranger Super Fine White embossing powder. Since I was using white embossing powder on black paper I made sure to prep my paper with the Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pad first so I would only have powder melting on my stamped words. I also did some extra accents on my card using a White Gelly Roll Pen size 10. I also die cut 2 small stars from the Lawn Fawn Puffy Star Stackables  out of black paper and made white dash lines with my Gelly Roll pen to decorate the large star.

To clean my stamps I always use the Lawn Fawn Stamp Shammy and I store it in the Lawn Fawn Stamp Shammy Case so it's contained and ready to go.

Here's another look at the card with some of the supplies I used:

This card was a blast to make and shaker cards are my all time favorite cards to make!

Easter Shaker Notecards

Hello crafty friends and welcome to my blog!
I'm up on the Kat Scrappiness blog today and I have a fun trio of shaker notecards
to share with you using the newly released Easter edition of the
Crafter's Essentials dies. This is a fun set that features several different dies
perfect for Easter and Spring themed cards!
Here is a picture of all the dies that come with this set:

I used the bunny, chick and cracked egg to make 3 adorable shaker notecards.
were the perfect accessories for these cards!

The first card was made using the bunny die from the set.
I cut a card base out of card stock measuring 4" x 8 " and scored it at 4".
I used a piece of patterned paper from the Hoppy Easter paper pack
cut to 4" x 4" to cover the card base.
I then took a piece of white card stock and cut out a panel
with the second largest Square Zig Zag die
I placed the bunny die in the center of that Zig Zag square
and ran it through my Vagabond.
That left the negative shape of the bunny in the panel which I then
backed with acetate to form my shaker window.
To make the foam tape curve around the back of the bunny
I snipped small lines half way into the tape so that it would bend
easily and not warp the paper.
For the bunny shaker I used 3 different sequin mixes:

It's so much fun to see the mix of sequins and confetti shaking around.
For the sentiment I stamped on a Stitched Flag Die and used the same
patterned paper to back it with a larger Flag die.
I also decorated the flag with a few stars from the shaker mix.

Next up is the chick card.  The basic assembly of the card is just
like the bunny card except I used different patterned paper and sequins.
The patterned paper is also from the Doodlebug Hoppy Easter paper pack
and the sequin mix is called Chicken or the Egg?
I just love the little yellow chick that's included in this mix!
I tucked one of them behind the sentiment flag.

The last card I have to share with you is the cracked egg card.
Again the basic assembly is as explained in the bunny card above.
The patterned paper for this card is from the Doodlebug Simply Spring paper pack
and the sequin mix is called Easter Egg Parade!
The tiny die cut Easter eggs in this mix are just too cute!

These cards were so much fun to make! You can really get creative with the
patterned papers and different sequin mixes, there's so many fun combinations!

The Rabbit Hole Designs February Guest Designer

Hello and welcome back to my blog!
I am honored to be guest designing for The Rabbit Hole Designs
for the month of February!
They are a brand new stamp company and they have some very
unique stamps that feature a line of over-caffeinated critters such as
a unicorn, a dinosaur, an octopus and the cat featured on my card today.
Make sure you check them out to see all of their fun stamp sets!

Ok, so if you have your morning cup of java or cocoa or whiskey
or (whatever gets you moving in the morning)... we'll get started!

The new stamps here at The Rabbit Hole are so much fun to create with!
For today's card I am featuring the Caffeinated Cat stamp.
I am LOVING that CRAZY hair and those adorable bunny slippers!

Shaker cards are one of my favorite types of card to make.
Here is the "How To" for my coffee loving feline card:

Card Recipe

  • My first step was to stamp the cat in Gina K Amalgam ink and color her with my Zig and Copic markers.
  • Next I cut out the stamped image with my Scan and Cut machine.  I love my machine but you could easily fussy cut this image out with scissors.
  • The next thing I did was to stamp the caffeine molecule and #momlife stamp randomly on to some polka dot patterned paper for the background. The patterned paper was cut using the largest die from the Kat Scrappiness Wonky Wavy Stitched Rectangle Dies.
  • For the top of the shaker I used the Kat Scrappiness Stitched Scalloped Collage Frame die and I adhered a piece of acetate to the back of it. I built the frame up with foam tape so my shaker guts would have room to move around.
  • Now for the fun part! I chose a variety of coffee colored sequins from Kat Scrappiness to fill my card with and I made sure to add a splash of teal to match the coffee cup. The sequin mix consisted of Espresso mix, Caramel Latte mix and Teal Jewels. I placed the sequin mix down on the patterned paper in the spots where I knew the windows were in the collage frame and then I adhered the frame over the sequins.
  • All that was left was to add my sentiment and cat to the front of the card.  I stamped the sentiment on to some brown card stock with white ink and embossed with WOW bright white embossing powder.  I cut the sentiment into 3 separate strips and popped them up on foam tape. Oh yeah...... kitty got popped up too!πŸ˜‚

Here are some close up pictures to see the details better:

I also have a video for you so you can see how I created
this Caffeinated Cat shaker card.
Please excuse the extreme closeup view in the video,
I have a new camera and I'm still figuring things out.
You can watch the video here or on YouTube.

Thanks so much for joining me today!
I really enjoyed sharing my card and video with you.

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge 362

Today I made a card for the MFT Sketch Challenge #362.   Since I love shaker cards I decided to incorporate two shaker windows into my card where the circles are in the sketch.  Since the cute Hog Heaven stamp set has love themed pigs I wanted my shakers to be in the shape of hearts.  I just love those cute little pigs!  Here is my card for this week, I love how it turned out.  Still working on coloring with copics...... it's a labor of love!

Ok off to bed since I worked last night, I just had to stay up and play for a little while before I could go to sleep.
Have a great day everyone!
